Strength in numbers: what’s possible for cyclists in your area and beyond?

The Toronto Cyclists Union and the Toronto-Danforth local, Ward 29 Bikes, invite cyclists to come to a friendly east-end meet-up at 7pm on Tuesday Nov. 3 in the Council Chambers of the East York Civic Centre, 850 Coxwell Avenue (at Mortimer Avenue, 1km north of Coxwell subway or take O’Connor bus #70 north). This an opportunity to sit down informally and discuss priorities and strategies for improving cycling east of the Don Valley.

Our hope is that you’ll meet some fellow cyclists from your own neighbourhood. Time will be set aside for you to talk with them and exchange information. Refreshments will be served.

Cycle 26 and Ward 29 Bikes are both successful east-end local advocacy groups that began through the Toronto Cyclists Union’s Ward Advocacy Program.  Ward 32 is in the process of starting a group. How might such a group benefit your ward?  Not sure which ward you’re in? Look up your address on this map of the municipal wards of Toronto.

Present at the meeting will be Yvonne Bambrick, Executive Director of the Toronto Cyclists Union

You may already be engaged in cycling advocacy, or perhaps you are considering getting involved.  This meeting is to encourage east-end citizens to connect with the bike union to volunteer, organize and help grow within the context of our growing organisation: advocating locally to realize the larger goal of transforming Toronto into a city that makes space for cyclists.

If you know anyone else who might be interested, please pass this along. All are welcome, and we are focusing our promotional efforts to getting people out from the following neighbouring east-end Wards that border on the Danforth:

  • Ward 26 Don Valley West, Councillor John Parker
  • Ward 29 Toronto-Danforth, Councillor Case Ootes
  • Ward 30 Toronto-Danforth, Councillor Paula Fletcher
  • Ward 31 Beaches-East York, Councillor Janet Davis
  • Ward 32 Beaches-East York, Councillor Sandra Bussin
  • Ward 35 Scarborough Southwest, Councillor A.A. (Adrian) Heaps
  • Ward 36 Scarborough Southwest, Councillor Brian Ashton

We look forward to seeing you there!
