Thursday night ride #4: Cedarvale ravine and the Beltline

By , June 28, 2012 1:21 am

Our fourth and last Thursday night ride for this year will take us on a loop ride through several downtown and midtown neighbourhoods as we explore Cedarvale ravine and the Beltline trail. This ride passes through Mount Pleasant Cemetery, which closes its gates for the night at 8 p.m. at this time of year. If the cemetery is closed (or about to close) when we get there, we’ll follow an alternate route.

Meet at the East York Community Centre at the corner of Pape and Torrens Avenues on Thursday, June 28 at 6:15 p.m. The ride leaves at 6:30 p.m. rain or shine, but will be cancelled if thunderstorms are likely. Email info@29bikes.ca before 5:00 p.m. if you want confirmation of the status of the ride; final determination will be made by 5:45 p.m.

Riders will receive a copy of the turn sheet and map at the beginning of the ride, or you can print them from this PDF.

You should bring:

  • a bike in good working order,
  • clothing appropriate for the weather,
  • a bottle of water,
  • money for refreshments after the ride, and
  • TTC fare in case you get tired and need a lift home.

Contact us if you have any questions, and we hope to see you on Thursday.

    Hi:
Sorry I missed your ride Thursday evening. I didn’t read carefully and went to the East York Civic Centre for 6:15 pm. When no-one showed there I went west on Sammon to Pape and north to Cosburn; couldn’t remember exactly where the East York Community Centre was. I then went on my own 2.5 hour ride along Cosburn to Broadview to Pottery Road, down into valley – a fast ride; north on Don Valley trail looking for you; then south on Don Valley trail to Lakeshore, east to Leslie and south into Leslie Spit and then back home up Leslie, west to Jones, north to Danforth, north on Donlands, east on Strathmore, home to Danforth at Glebemount. Didn’t get the socializing but did do about 38 km, a good workout for me – haven’t been riding much. I will try to make the July 12 ride.
    Thanks for organizing.
    Murray
